Teeth whitening is extremely popular these days. We have a lot of questions about it, and there’s a lot of different systems and brands. We use a couple of different options here. We have one, where we make custom trays for the patient, and then we give them a bleach solution or a whitening solution to take home. Another option that we really like is custom trays, where you don’t have to have impressions made. You just take these trays that are made by this particular company that we use home. The difference is, one, the one with custom trays is more expedient in the whitening process, typically speaking, and then the other tray is just a convenience factor. Patients don’t have to sit for impressions, have that process eliminated in the whitening. So, the timeframe with whitening varies from person to person. Usually, we’ll do 7 to 10 days, and then if we’re gonna do that in conjunction with, say, a veneer case, we’re gonna try to transform the smile. We usually wait for another seven days or so to let the whitening of the teeth settle, because there is some lingering effect after the whitening process has stopped. So, another, let’s say, 7 to 10 days is usually allowed after that. But most of the time, it’s gonna be a 7 to 10-day treatment. In the timeframe, each treatment varies. Sometimes it’s as little as 15 minutes, sometimes it may be a half hour. And then there’s other situations where there’s some stains, that’s more intrinsic to the body of the tooth that we will actually do different solutions, where the patients can wear for months at a time to try to get the teeth whiter.
